Winter is around and it is time to take out the wools and check for any problem like the knots have loosened or any smell and air it out, if it is to be washed then use the liquid soap that has come exclusively for wools.

If you are purchasing the sweater better to read the washing instructions, if it says dry- clean then it is better to do that as otherwise it may shrink and you may loose a wonderful sweater in the bargain.
When you plan to wash them when soiled it is always better to hand was with mild liquid soap as that can help the natural fiber to remain soft and the life line gets extended.

Try to follow the instructions in the book while knitting to avoid further re opening and re designing, NEVER EVER TRY OUT A SWEATER THAT HAS NOT BEEN KNIT FOR YOU. This may lead to the sweater either getting too loose for the wearer and it would neither fit you, and with this dilemma the sweater in itself is lost to the wearer.

Always go in for good vardhaman or other good branded wool it helps you by giving more shelf life, when baby sweaters have become small wash them and do never hang them always dry them on a flat surface with a towel below to absorb the water and never in the direct sun to avoid fading.
If your sweater says that it can be hand washed, try not to damage the wool fabric. Use a very mild detergent and let your sweater soak in tepid to cool water. You should never wash your sweater in hot water. You should also never add bleach to the water. That is just a disaster waiting to happen! After your sweater has soaked, rinse out the soap. Gently squeeze the water out of your sweater without wringing it. Wringing a wool sweater can cause it to stretch and wrinkle.

Never hang your dry sweaters always fold it and arrange it inside your wardrobe, so that you can use it during the next winter. Like the north Indians do you can also open the sweater and re design after washing the yarn and drying it on a wooden rod in shade and re roll and use. If the color has faded a lot you get these dyes in the market and instructions too u can color your wool again and re do the sweater, now this is for the sweater and people who love something new every year.

I knit sweaters for my pets too, especially in winter my jujaan cannot stand the cold climate as she is 11yrs now, so always see to it that they have something warm around themselves….
