clean the iron

Yesterday, I burnt my tshirt while ironing. Now the problem is my iron has dark spots. Whenver I try to iron any of the clothes, my clothes get black spots. How do i clean my iron from outside?

Unplug the iron
mix 1 cup hot water with 1 cup white vinegar and 1 tsp. salt. Stir the mixture until the salt dissolves. Scrub the soleplate with the mixture.
Wipe with wet soft cloth followed by dry cloth.
MAKE SURE IRON IS COMPLETELY DRY BEFORE YOU PLUG IN.

I tried surabhis tips and it works. Sakhis, Go ahead and clean your iron. Make sure you unplug it before you do all the experiments.
