gauri, tip for your bakery. If you can bake veg cakes n cookies along with others, they are in demand. People dont get eggless cakes outside.

Gauri, starting business from home is a great idea. You can learn a lot before you become big. Local ice cream stores like EDYS, TCBY get their cakes baked from private bakers.
I dont know which icecream parlours are famous in your area. Contact them and give your information with pictures of cakes. I saw your sketches so I am sure you can make best decoration. They will contact you when they get orders.
Make sure you take advance money for making cake. I like nellys idea of baking veg cake.

gaurik, great idea. Bakery business is perfect to start from home. You can also market your business to local temples. One of the lady I know, was doing decorations and baking cakes for the temple. She started taking orders from temple people and then from known people to unkown people. Now she has resigned from her good paying job of network engineering and is full time wedding decorator and baker.
My tip: advertise and build contacts. Your contact can be very distant but you dont know who knows who. Have patience, it takes time to spread the word. Dont loose any opportunity to spread the word.

dear gauri, you can take a 3 days or 5 days workshop for bakery classes at home.do its publicity within you residential area.if 10 ladies also come, they will serve for mouth to mouth publicity.you can get your pamplets printed saying that you do orderworks from home.when the class gets over, gift them a small token box filled with baked items.then the orders will start pouring in when people come to know.

Starting any business needs careful planning, Statistics have shown us that up to 73 percent of all small to medium sized businesses will fail the first year that they are in business. And of the remaining, 67 percent of them will be forced to close their doors five years from now. These are alarming statistics. Sadly, many of these owners will work hard and long hours. Their health and relationships suffer. And in the end, they have wasted years of trying to build a successful business while pouring out their sweat, guts, and money on ideas, advertising, and business strategies that at best produce average results.
