One can have this rasam either with hot rice or can have it like a liquidised soup. It gives great releif for stomach trouble.
Ingredients:
1 sp Tamarind paste
1 sp cumin seeds
1 sp Black pepper
1 sp thur dal
1 sp mustard seeds
Curry leaves
Salt
2 sp ghee
Method:
Crush cumin seeds, black pepper and thuvar dhall.
In a pan pour ghee and make seasoning with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
Pour 2 cups of water and put tamarind paste.
Add salt and crushed powder.
Let the mixture boil for 5 to 10 mins (by this time it would have reduced in quantity).
Now add 1/2 cup water and in a sim flame let it boil.
Remove and serve with hot rice.
(For added taste, you can add one tomato finely chopped along with this. Add it while adding the tamrind paste or you can grind tomato along with cumin seeds black pepper and thuvar dhall and make it a wet paste)
If you are having gastric trouble add 7 to 8 pods of garlic while grinding.
