Since you have teaching background, I think tutoring will be good business for you. You can start advertising locally, through friends and family. The best thing about tutoring is you dont need much investment to start tutoring business. You can use your current furniture and may be buy some used books.
This is the best time to market as schools will begin and parents always look for some extra help.
Word of mouth is the cheapest and most powerful advertising tool.

Tulsi,If you have DSL connection at home. You can also look into online tutoring. There are couple of websites offering online tutoring, I am sure they will need tutor

Thanks Naarisakhi for all the advice n support. I have started tutoring at home with 2 students for now.I am enjoying ..simply loving it.
