hi friends,
we all have a tough time thinking for the recipies our kids would like to have for their tiffen, but here,i am facing this problem,as she is only 3 years old,and going to play school.her principal insists that she should have something solid,no noodles and no rice.now,i try to give her complete diet,so that she has energy for the whole day.otherwise, you all know, our new generation is fond of fast food,chips,noodles,etc.etc.but,if the tummies are full of nutritious diet, they do not crave for these fast food items.
here,i would like our saskhis to share their menus and recipies, which they make.they should be easy and fast to make, because,we dont have much time to prepare them.
i usuaaly mix wheat flour with gram flour, chopped palak,or any green leafy veg, sometimes lauki also, add a spoon of daal, rice, and salt, haldi, and a pinch of red chilli, kneed the dough, give some different shapes, and deep fry.sometimes it is fingers, sometimes, poori,or cut triangles.
how do you provide varieties??
waiting anxiously for your tickling recipies......

Good Topic Jyoti,

My daughter is 18months old. She hates to eat fruits. So, everyday I give her milkshake or smoothie with any fruit (like mango, banana, strawberries, Apple and banana or any healthy milk drink). So kids who hates to drinks milk or fruits , moms can try this tip.

Some breakfast suggestions:
1. Any two variety of fruits. (cut into cubes and add honey. Serve)
2.South Indian breakfast like Idli, Upma, Uthappam , Pongali, poori or roti with mixed vegetable curry, Kichidi serve with cucumber raita.
3. Bread toast and omlet or french toast
4. Boiled egg and milk
5. Boiled bean seeds (soy, black eye bean, brown chana so on) mix them with veggies (like onion, carrots, potato, cucumber, coriander leaves). Season them with salt pepper and lime juice,
6. Atleast once in a day serve a small amount of mixed dry fruits (like 2 kaju , 2 almonds, 3-4 DATES, 1 walnuts, 10-15 Roasted groundnuts, few kismis)
7. Sandwich
8. 1/2 cup oats boiled them in milk and add jaggery and cinnamon powder for taste.

dear jyoti,
how about a different version idli make it just like noodles and flavors too, make idli cut them up and stir fry cabbage and capsicum and carrots and add just a dash of soya sauce and some pepper and salt and now add the cut idlis and add them and mix well and stir a little u can add a dash of tomato ketchup and it is simply great for the kiddos....

i also make modak this way prepare the same dough on top like modak but fill it up with stirfried veggies and the chinese flavor in dimsim and children love the different version too...
cut the bread as rounds and make cutlet out of all the veggies and mix well with some bread along with onion and chillie powder and salt, now make a round and dip this in maida mixed with water and deep fry it holds and is crisp and nice to eat...

In Andhra we call it as "guntapunugulu". We make it for tiffins/ snack. To dosa batter we add soaked chana dal, chopped onions, green chillies and 1/2tsp of cumin seeds. This goes very nice with pickle or chutney.

corn on toast is another item children love,
boil corn and make a white sauce with some maida butter and milk and mix well now add a little cheese to make it saucy and now add theboiled corn in it and put it on the slice of bread and let it stand in the over for a minute or two until u find it is holding itself together and a little melted look now garnish with some pepper and salt and chopped spring onions it is colorful and they love it when u make 4 squares out of a bread that is eatable sizes ..

Jyoti

You can make rice noodles, kids love noodles.

You get rice noodles readymade pack in market. Just drop break it the way we break our Maggie noodles and drop it in a pot of boiled water with salt. Stir for 2 mins and put off the gas.

Drain.

Heat oil in a pan and give tadka of Mustard seeds, drop the strained noodle and stir, add a bit of salt if necessary and a tbsp of sugar. You can garnish it with scrapped coconut.

You can make dosa the normal way and spread the upper side with cheese and a bit of sugar. Take it from the pan immediately and fold it from both sides. The crispy dosa with cheesy melt and sugary sweet taste can bowl the toddler and may ask for more.

veggie parathas are healthy and quick recipes. Parathas do not get spoiled easily in the heat if cooked with butter.
