Some tips to reduce oil in food and eat heart healthy
1. If at all you are eating fried food (my advice is fried food is like a poison to person with high glycerides)try to absorb as much as oil possible on paper napkin not on newspaper as newspaper ink is very toxic whcih gets transfered onto food.
2. Place some lettuce leaves on top of the heated soup. When you see the fat absorbed onto the leaf or leaves, remove them. The lettuce leaf may also impart a slight flavor to the soup, helping to lend a little zest.
3.Use avacado chutney or glaucamole instead of butter as spread on bread.
4. Use whole wheat bread or a pita with some either lean turkey, chicken, tuna or most other fish along with vegetables.
5. Look at food labels and stay away from all foods containing Trans fats. Trans fats will increase the level of LDL cholesterol in your blood stream and decrease the good HDL cholesterol.
6. Feel free to occasionally snack on different varieties of nuts. The best are walnuts, almonds, and pecans. While it's true that most nuts are high in fat, they contain good fat that your body needs.
7. Include high fiber foods in your diet to lower cholesterol. Some good choices include whole wheat bread, oatmeal (not the high sugar flavored type), fruit, vegetables, beans and cereals.
8. Salads are good, but most salad dressings, bacon bits, croutons, mayo are not heart friendly.Try to use olive oil, vinegar or lemon juice
9. Green peas, broccoli, cauliflower, apples, oranges, mangos, papaya, pineapple, tomato, garlic, onions, spinach, water chestnuts, bananas, apricots, blueberries, and kiwi are good.
I hope this helps you n ur hubby

Hello Anu,
There are many reasons for high triglycerides build up. Some of the reasons for that are
lack of exercise, being obese or overweight, smoking, skipping meals and eating large portions of foods at one time. I have found changing the last mentioned reason will help.
My husband had that problem, I made him eat small and frequent meals and found good results.
Add more vegetables and fruits in to his diet, like fresh leafy vegetables and citrus fruits. Select more foods from the antioxidant varieties. Give less of rice and add more of nuts and fruits. Avoid fried foods and processed foods. Eat more fruits than fruit juices and that too avoid processed fruit juices and aerated ones like pepsi and colas. Take only home made fresh ones.
