Alcohol intake among Indian teenages is on rise

Recently I read in the news
Alcohol consumption among teenagers in the age group of 15-19 years has increased due to absent parents, easy money, and rising stress and depression, peer pressure.
Sakhis, where are we heading?
What you think is the reason of alcohol intake among teenagers?
What can be done to stop this before we begin hearing more news about therapy, suicide, depression, school drop outs?

Devika, aprties are common sight among teenagers. When you see parents showing cleavage and throwing parties, what do you expect from childrens? Teenagers always follow parents and they feel parents do the right thing.
People out there, if you want to save your future generation, now is the right time. Get back to your culture. By saying this, I dont mean start wearing saree and have gungat.
Wear proper attire in front fo kids, do not drink or smoke in front of kids. Give them maximum time.
I know most of us need to work to pay the bills but rest of the time, be with your kids.

devika, teenager and alcohol is a huge problem and it is affecting India too. The change in the culture is too quick and efects of culture are spreading like a plague.
I agree with Sunidis view also. We al need to understadn meaning of being modern. Modern is not showing off skin and drinking.

Devika, it is so true that we are loosing our future generation. We should take steps right now otehrwise it will be too late.
I agree with the sakhis that cultural change has very adverse effect on the kids.
Parents should spend more time with kids and be friends to them.

Nidhik, Our culture is changing very fast and we are not realizing the effects of cultural change. People should revisit defination of modern.
Snehawagmare,Todays job condition is so difficult and long hours which makes it difficult for parents to spend time with kids. But we should find some way out.

Devika, it is a fact that alcohol among indian teenagers is on rise. Parents are to blamed for having alcohol parties. The solution for this is awarness among teenagers on drugs and alcohol. Teenagers are in the trnsition phase and we need to guide them. Who are We here?
We mena schools, colleges, teachers, parents,family and neighbour. We should find way to help teenagers to get rid of bad habit and also to stay away from alcohol and drugs.

Devika you raised a very good point here. I think it not all fault of parents but at some point our Govt. is also responsible.Due to high inflation one man earning is not sufficient so it is necessary for both the ppl in a house earn to live their livelihood and to give a better education to our children .
Yes this is true that our culture is changing very fast our youth is so attracted towards western culture that they don't want to listen their elders for what is good and what is bad.

Devika, todays demanding world is very expensive and in most of the cases both the parents have to work. We should do something to build better society, better TV programs, better community. Children grown in healthy community will be healthy.

alchohol is not the only things india is full with drugs, and dress sense all gone for a toss all are apeing the west so well, what with the exposure from tv with so many channels showing the latest trend i think all get influenced with that, what with IT boom money boom youngsters are ready to start earning 25000 as starters so why not they are in their early 20's and have lost their way now it is their way of life, we cannot have any control the change has already set it and it is not a phase but a change...

Meena, our culture is changing where alcohol is the main attraction for get togethers. This impacts our younger generation.
