With all the support from my sakhis, my experience and reading. I have put together words, imagination and my reflections towards life.

Sucess and hard work
On a quiet summer evening me and my 10 year old nephew went on a stroll near lake. The water was clear as crystal. It was calm, serene and cool. The handful of duck feeding just offshore were splashing and diving. Our attention was drawn by a beautiful duck swimming effortlessly on water. It was so stable and serene; we couldn't but notice its serenity. My nephew asked me how the duck was able to stay afloat. I explained to him how the duck paddles below the water using webbed feet. As I was explaining I realized how much of effort is going on under the water to make the duck look so serene on top of the water.
Behind every successful person there is lot of paddling to get the success. Isn't it the case with almost all the successful people - the success that we so easily see has come after a lot of paddling? Succesful people have applied their best efforst and hard work to acheive success.

“The pride of success is hard work, dedication to the job at hand, and determination that whether we win or lose, we have applied the best of ourselves to the task at hand.”

Hi Sulu,

A very good topic to discuss. Success is directly proportional to hard work. Now what does hard work mean? Each individual has his own definition towards hard work. Being in HR, I have seen individuals defining hard work very beautifully.

Interacting with many in life, I have discovered that hard work does not mean the same to everyone out there.

A few feel hard work means top your grades, work hard, earn your way to acheive success.

A few feel hard work means use all your efforts to impress, keep impressing, master art of impression and work your way to the top. When you feel your impression hamper is full, quit and start all over again! I have plenty of them in my office who are lapping the cream with 'IMPRESSION'. For them hard work means impressing and impression.

A few more there feel hard work means deceiving, misusing the trust, working their way to the top using them as the rung of their ladder.

A small group out there are testing their success with the lap of luck. They are gamblers, speculators, people who participate in reality shows, some of them who have never been to school or college are millionairs too! For them success is accumulating money and enjoying life.

Success smiles at all of them, in fact except the first slot, others taste success very rapidly in life.

If you ask me, I belong to the 'HARD WORK' category and my success does not depend on any external force. It depends on my strength and the thirst to achieve what I want to thrusting my abilities with full power.

Sulu Very good explaination of sucess and Mals hard work well defined.
I am in "HARD WORK " category. I cannot stand people who enjoys the cream with impression. Working just to impress is not only common in the office but also at home in joint family system.
My mother-in-law will not help me in any house hold chores and I am fine with that. But whenver we have guest she will wash the dishes, does sweeping, and mopping. The best part is her style of doing things. She will show people that she cannot do all this work but she is scared of me and doing it. Once guest leave our house she will place orders from her bedroom and she is healthy 60 year old touch wood.

I am happy of being in the Hard Work category as I know my success will be slow but steady and forever. I do not have to depend on others during crisis as I know I have the tried and tested abilties to put up the tent again.

Good write up.
