Indain food has strong smell and hard to get rid of cooking smell in US as we dont tend to keep doors and windows open. The situation gets messy when you have guest and you cook so much food at the same time dont wont to welcome your guest in stinking house.
here are few tips
1. Boil water with lemon skins will spread lemony zesty smell in the house.
2. Keep Vinegar in a bowl in the center of the house which will absorb all the food smell.
3. If you are making Indian desert, keep it towards last and add nutmeg, elaichi and cinnamon when its time for guest to arrive so house has smell of sweet spices.

sakhis, come forward with your tips to spread sweet fragrance in the house.

oh great tips Shakshi. You can keep a bowl full of water and half a lemon to it and few rose water drops and keep it in refrigerator, food smell will go off. I will try this on the weekend hehehe have heard from many people.
