Dear Sakhis,
I am organizing a quiz and I will present some puzzles. Puzzles will be simple and logical, not much arithmetic calculation or special knowledge is required to solve them. Who ever will solve the puzzle and give correct answer will get NS points :)
Sakhis.. get geared ...put on your hat.. be ready to scratch your gray cells :)
Here is the first puzzle and winner will get 2 NS points.
There are three switches. Each corresponds to one of the three light bulbs in the room. You can turn the switches on and off and leave them in any position.
How would you identify which switch corresponds to which light bulb, if you can enter in the room only once?
bhawnashah11
February 21st, 2011, 04:01 AM
Switch on the first switch for a 3-4 sec it will warm up and then switch off and then switch on the second switch and enter the room.
The buld which is warm and off is the connected to the first switch and you already switched on second switch and the third switch is for the bulb which is not warm.

Puzzle 3 (of 2 NS points) :
You have to get the answer "24" by using the numbers 8,8,3,3 only. you can use the main symbols i.e. X, +,-, / .

Can we use these number as many times we can or we have to use these number only once.
bhawnashah11
February 22nd, 2011, 01:30 AM
If there is no restriction on number of use of 8,8,3,3 then this is the result
8+8+(3*3)-(3/3)=24

Explaination to this puzzle is :If you think about it carefully: the King can't say that it is true, because if it is then the man should be trampled by buffalo. But if he is trampled by buffalo, then his statement would be false, and so should have been .
So the King can't tell if it is a lie or truth, so decides to just let him go.

Good Question Neha.
Let me explain this tricky question
Let the cow be = x
Let the duck be =y
Adding Cows and ducks will get total no of eyes
x+y=60 eyes
x+y=60/2=30 animals
x+y=30-----------1
Cow has 4 legs and Duck has 2 legs and we have 86 feet.
4*x+2*y=86
4x+2y=86
2(2x+y)=86
2x+y=43---------------2
Subtract eq. 1 from eq. 2
x=13
13+y=30
y=17
So there are 13 cows and 17 ducks.
