Maintaing weight for PCOS womens is the most difficult task and maintaining weight is one of the solution to get releif from PCOS.Walking is a good exercise where you do not have excuse for not doing it. You can do walking in the house, anytime of the day.If you do not have time to walk for 30 minutes, break it into 2 parts of 15 minutes each. Twice a week try to work out in GYM,work in the garden.

Yoga helps PCOS. PCOS womens should do exercise which is focussed on abdomen and reproductive system. practice exercise to release blocked energy from areproductive system. Practice pranayam
and meditation to balance your mind. Hormones are released by brain. Control main source of hormone release
you will benefit from it. Do not get stressed out. Practice meditation twice a day for 10 minutes.

lmehta , Dont worry. Stress is also one of the reason for PCOS. I was siffering from PCOS for last 4 years and now my periods are become regular. You have to sacrifice lot of things and have patience. Avoid fried food, rice, potato, creams, choclates(dark choclate in moderation is okay)
avoid very sweet fruits. Exercise everyday. NO thrice a week, four times a week business. Everyday do exercise for atleast 30 minutes and when you have chance do it for a longer time. Walking, jogging, yoga, pranayam, pilates are very good.

Steam bath in the abdomen region helps any women reproductive related issues.Put some hot water(bearable by your body).in a tub. Add 1/2 cup epsom salt and sit in tub for 10 minutes twice a day.Make sure lower part of your body along with abdomen should be in water, rest of the body can remain out of the water. This increases blood circulation, detoxifies your system. This can be done to cure any reproductive related issues.

I am suffering from PCOS since last 5 years. I was on Glaucaphage for 2 years. Intially it helped me reduce some weight but later on I did not see any difference in weight or health. I am doing Ramdev baba yoga for last 2 months, eating methi/fenugreek in the morning, walking for 20 mts a day.
Lost about 2 kilos. Any home remedy advice?

Since PCOS is blocking of energy in reproductive system. Eat more warm food(not hot and spicy). Warm food means soup, stew, dal. Avoid cold drinks, cold food and icecream. warm food will help in digestion also as many PCOS suffer from constipation.

I agree with you Sulu regarding eating warm food. I was reading an article other day about Healthy diet and came across eating healthy habits.
One should eat warm food like soups, stew for general well being and drink warm water after meals. Avoid eating refrigerated food. No doubt our ancestors lead a healthy life. They were blessed with not having refrigerator.

Exercise,exercise..... Eat lean proteins and less carbs. The trick for PCOS is controlling your weight. If you win over your weight you have won half the war of your PCOS>

I agree for PCOS diet and exercise is very important. If you are planning for pregnancy make sure you take multivitamins and folic acid for healthy baby. Cut down on carbs. Eat healthy carbs and of course I cannot stress enough
no maida, white flour,potatoes,fried food

Thanks for all the inputs. Recently I met one of my friend and she said the exact cause of PCOS is not known but stress can be part of it. If you ahev PCOS do not get depressed about it. Think positive and learn to relax yourself.

Swapna, grape fruit is good for PCOS and diabetic. Berries in smaller amount is okay.

Swapna, PCOS patients get diabetic after taking metaformin for a long time. I know it sounds very ironic but it is true.
Eat methi in the morning and then you can consume one fruit.
Apple, papaya are opkay for diabtic people and even for PCOS according to ayurveda. you can eat in moderation and do little bit of walking so sugar gets digested.

First let understand Why PCOS?

The imbalance of female hormone and too much secreation of male hormone(testogen) is the main cause for pcos.

That is why unwanted hair growth, unwanted weight gain, some times male features like broad shoudlers, thick voice, etc.,

For balances your hormones you need to cleanse your internal organs and blood, which may be acidity and give proper food to activate and nourish them.

Neetu you have mentioned having methi in the morning, can you please elaborate as to how much quantity of methi to be taken and also should it be soaked overnight. And whether to have it on empty stomach. Also it has been mentioned in the previous thread that we can try taking steam bath in the lower part of the body i just wanted to know if we can use the sauna belt instead of the steam bath....

Rucha, I am not sure if Sauna bath will work as good as steam bath.
I tried this and I feel much better
massage your abdomen with warm oil and then use hot water bag. take shower after 1 hour.
Eat healthy, pranayam and everything will be fine. My periods are getting regular now with all the healthy lifestyle changes.

Rucha,
Clean and wash 1 tsp of methi seeds in 1/2 cup of water. Soak methi atleast for 12 hours. You should see methi getting lighter in color. next day morning, drink the water adn chew on methis.
You can try with few methi seeds and then increase it to 1 tsp.
Eat fruits in the morning and early dinner at 7 pm. I take dinner at 6 pm.
