Budget Birthday party
In today’s economy birthday parties can be unaffordable if you do not plan it ahead of time. You don’t have to cancel birthday party because you cannot afford it. If you think on few strategies you can save money and also enjoy party.

Limit guest list to relatives, close friends and friends. No friend’s friend, relative’s relative, etc.
Host the party at home or a local park or community hall at your complex. Children won’t care where the party is held as long as they are having fun with their friends.

Save on Decorations
Use toys for decoration, Children love toys and toy decoration. Use toys according to the theme of the party.
Use your Diwali/Christamas/Halloween decoration for birthday party. Diwali/Christmas lights, either clear or colored, can be hung around doorways or windows. Many Halloween items can be used for birthday parties.
Cheapest and attractive way of decoration is balloons. Kids of all ages love balloons.
Wrapping paper can be used to decorate a wall or your front door.
You can use saris or dupattas to decorate walls. Especially bhandani designs work wonders.
Cut aluminium foil or chocolate wrappers into different shapes like star, flower and hang it on door and your party hall.
You can aslo use decorative diyas for decoration. Make sure they are away from kids, unreachable

Save on Invitations
Make invitations at home using construction paper and stickers. Your Child can also take part in designing invitation.
You can design invitation if you have access to digital software and print it.
Send the invitations by email. Deliver invitation yourself, save on mail and phone bill.

Save on the Food
Stick with kid-friendly and healthy food.
Bake birthday cake at home. Bake cup cakes at home.
Use cookie cutters to create special sandwiches, cookies, cheese.
You can make pizza, sandwich, Sheera, payasam, fruit kulfi. Milk shakes, bhel puri, wraps at home

Save on the Games
Use free printable coloring pages as an activity.
Use washable and safe markers to set up a face painting activity.
Bake cup cakes and ask children to decorate cakes and select few winners.
Play musical chair, passing on the hat games.
Make vegetable stamps like potato, capsicum, ladies finger and they can stamp craft paper and convert into beautiful wrap which can be used to wrap their return gifts.

Save on the Goody Bags
Make gift bags out of newspaper and make cards at home.
You can play games of craft making and give them as return gifts. Kids will be happy and proud to take home their own creation
Wrap homemade cookies, laddos in colored paper tie it with a ribbon
Look for good deals around before birthday.

Banisha, very good tips to save money.
I liked the idea of using sarees for decoration. In fact I had seen for one of the parties they had use bhandani sarees n dupattas for wall decoration and it looked beautiful.
