We use and discard plastic so much in USA.
1. Instead of using plastic spoons, knifes and fork at office, use steel spoons, forks and knifes. You save money and environment.
Reserve use and throw for big parties. It does not taek much effort to wash one spon, fork and knife.
2. Use Cloth bags for shopping rather then palstic bags.
3. Reuse glass bottles like sauce, pickles bottles to store condiments. I am not clear on reusing plastic as they say it releases toxics, may be some other sakhis can give better explanation on reusing plastic.

Hey girls wonderful tips. Really helpful ones. In refrigerator keep water in a bowl and squeeze a lemon. You can also add few drops of rose water also. This removes the bad odor in refrigerator. I make colorful doormats our of old dupattas. Also I do make shopping bags out of duppattas. I collect cut pieces from market and stitch them as kitchen napkins. Just add a border and a small embroidery. I ensure that old news paper and plastic water bottles are always out of my house. I am going to share few more some other time.
