Lack of sleep alone is not the only cause of puffy eyes; there are so many other reasons also like, dehydration; allergy in eyes; eating salty food before going to bed; high blood pressure; harmonal changes; thyroid problems; kidney infections are also reasons. Certain drugs also cause puffiness below the eyes. And if it is hereditary then too you will get this.
How to get rid of this:
1. Drink lots of water;
2. Get plenty of sleep;
3. Check on your BP and salt intake regularly;
4. Wash your face and cleanse it without any makeup before you go to bed; get rid off your eye makeups for sure;
5. Check with your head elevated
Remedies for puffy eyes:
Wrap ice cubes in a thin cloth and keep them on your eyes, before you fully wake up in the morning;
Keep thin slices of potato or cucumber (they will help reduce the dark circles also);
Wash your eyes with cool and clear water quite often.
I hope all these helps you to some extent;

Soak cotton wool pads in rose water and use them as eye pads, over closed eyes, this will help to get rid of puffy eyes and reduce your puffiness.
Include Vitamin A in your diet. The best source of Vitamin A are carrots,tomatoes,cabbage,eggs,spinach,sweet potatoes, etc.

Nidhi's suggestion is followed and recommended by many doctors too in addition to Mukti's suggestion of having a Vitamin A rich diet.
Alcohol consumption also adds to puffiness.

This can be due to poor metabolism, lack of sleep and also can be hereditary.
