Spray the glass cleaner/Windex on your clean, soft cloth and not the glass surface directly. Wipe the mirroe with that cloth followed by dry cloth. Your mirrors edge can erode the backing of your mirror. So each time you clean your mirror's surface, make sure the frame is dried completely.
